How does it work?
During the spring and summer of 2019 Stallions will be nominated for $300 by their owners to be entered into a Stallion Service Auction. This Auction will be held at the Carson Fall Sale October 26, 2019. Bids can be received live or by telephone. These services being sold are for the 2020 breeding season. For this auction the stallion owner has responsibility for the $300 minimum bid on their nominated stallion. After the bid has past the minimum it no longer has to be the stallion owner’s responsibility. The winning bid on each stallion is considered to be the breeder. The winning bid gives the breeder the right to a stallion service for one mare to the purchased stallion nomination. The breeder and the stallion owner then are able to privately negotiate breeding services to additional mares to the stallion separate from the breeders’ challenge pot. After the Stallion Service Auction is complete the pot will be set for the yearling division as 50% of the funds generated goes towards Premiums and 50% goes to funding the WPC 2022.
Following the 2020 breeding season the breeder will be able to declare two mares in foal to the stallion they purchased the nomination for. Then in the 2021 foaling season the breeder will have to pick one of the two eligible foals to be the declared foal to be shown at the 2022 WPC Breeders’ Challenge.
This will go through another cycle for the weanling divisions. Stallions can be nominated for all of the years or for only select years upon the discretion of the stallion owner.
Who is this intended for?
This is an event made for all stallion and/or mare owners in North America. Stallions do not have to be able to ship semen or hand breed as on the nomination form it will be indicated the methods of breeding available for them. This gives a great opportunity for a promotion of a stallion or to try mares with a new stallion selection looking for that next great cross.
What will be shown?
This is an event that will include three divisions:
These animals will compete in their respective divisions and will be earning points for their respective exhibitor, sire, and dam to determine whom will earn the title of Premiere Breeder, Premiere Sire, and Premiere Dam of the “2022 Breeders’ Challenge.”
